The history of sloe gin :

In the 17th century England there was lots and lots of common land but the people of England passed on a law that now the land should belong to certain people
so as soon as they got their piece of land they started growing some very spiny trees called 'blackthorn tree's' so that no wild animal could come into their land or nobody could steal their piece of land a few years later out of no where berries called 'sloe berrie's' started growing on the blackthorn trees
Then the people of the villages started tasting the sloe berries but they turned out to be very sour
so they decided to store then im a jar and make some alcoholic drink out of them called "Sloe Gin"
IN the history of england Sloe gin is a very famous christmas drink
The berries come out in autumn and in the history of england the people are used to drinking sloe gin on christmas because the berries are ripe in autumn and it takes 4 months to settle down and transform into a proper sloe gin.

On the blackthorn tree there were a lot of thorns so what the village people used to do was that they picked a few berries and took a thorn from the blackthorn tree and then made holes in the sloe berry with the thorn. Since live in India and the climate is not right for a blackthorn tree to grow in we used an indian traditional fruit called "Jamun".
it is very similar to a sloe berry, we did not use thorns but we used a fork to make holes in the jamun.
