yellowstone is one of the most popularest parks of north america, it streches from idaho to wayoming and all the way to montana, it was founded in 1872, it is full of steaming -hot rivers and streams and the water temperatures can go from hot to boiling, most people say its erruption levels are unpredictable, and you won't believe it! one of its last erruptions were 65,000 years ago!

Most of yellowstone is something called a caldera, a caldera is a huge volcano, you'l be surprised to know than under your earth, deep in the mud beneath the caldera, there is something called a magma chamber, that contains lots of hot, boiling lava.

It all happened in 1960 when an explorer called Bob Christiansen came to yellowstone, he was puzzled about something, what do you think that was?, well that is absolutely correct, he could not find the volcano in yellowstone park, it had had been known for a long time that the park had a volcano somewhere, it is always quite easy to catch site of a volcano, but it was hopeless,
Bob Christiansen still could not find the volcano.

it just so happened that NASA finally found out the volcano, they took photos and sent it to bob, as soon as bob saw it he realised why he had failed to spot the caldera, as i said, he realised that virtually the whole park was a caldera, from then on came the popularity of yellowstone national park.
